IT ANALYST II / Web Developer / Java

Do you love application development? Then the Department of Technology Services (DTS) is looking for you to join our Solutions Delivery team. This team is responsible for serving various agencies in the State and is involved in architecting and building new technical solutions for many of the State’s legacy platforms.

This ideal candidate will require a competent level of expertise in application development and design. In addition, some experience with relational databases and structured testing would be preferred.

Example of Duties:

  • Designs and develops Java web applications.
  • Anticipates the impact that new or modified software will have on existing systems.
  • Participates in the design of databases that meet user needs.
  • Monitors and evaluates operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Adapts automated system(s) to accommodate special agency needs; designs or enhances agency unique automated systems to interface with existing systems as needed.
  • Identifies problems or potential problem areas and recommends solutions.
  • Recommends user level computer system enhancements to better meet customer needs.

Typical Qualifications:

  • Skill in designing and building customer-facing web applications
  • Strong experience in Java, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
  • Experience with JQuery or similar JavaScript libraries
  • Experience with JDBC, ODBC, web services, XML (AJAX), JSON, Java APIs
  • Experience in using Spring MVC/Struts is preferred
  • Experience and/or exposure to Hibernate/iBATIS is a ‘plus’
  • Experience with Angular or React is a ‘plus’
  • Test software using appropriate methodology and techniques
  • Plan, organize and prioritize time and workload in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines

  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
