Investments Operations Analyst – Business Analyst

Led by our Chief Investment Officer, the Investment Department manages a consolidated investment portfolio of nearly $75 billion and consists of investment professionals focused on portfolio management, risk management, asset management, derivatives, operations, finance and accounting functions.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Investments Operations Analyst – Business Analyst will be a member of the Investments Operations Team. This role will be required to work with business users to understand investments data and processes to support business initiatives. The Business Analyst’s primary role is to serve as the liaison between key business areas, senior leadership, Finance, Operations, and IT Development and support for key investments systems. This role will also focus on collaborating with Investments teams to identify and maximize opportunities to use information and technology to improve investments data, analytics, and business processes. Additional projects may be assigned, so flexibility and a strong desire to learn are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in design, implementation, and configuration of the Investments reporting strategy in the enterprise data management system.
Collaborate with business process owners to identify and maximize opportunities to use Investment Systems including Aladdin, Markit, Findur, and Eagle; and other technology to improve investments data, analytics, and business processes
Build and maintain reporting using a variety of tools. (Business Objects, OLAP, SQL)
Identify and investigate process and data issues by employing a structured approach to problem solving, including gathering, analyzing, and reporting data and mapping processes
Establish and maintain detailed working knowledge of investments reporting, trading, and accounting systems, and business processes; recognize key interdependencies among system components
Partner with Investments teams to analyze present-state processes and develop business requirements using appropriate tools and techniques including but not limited to interviews, document analysis, surveys, use cases, scenarios, business process, task and workflow analysis
Prepare and facilitate training of business users including one-on-one coaching & group training
Work closely with management & other areas of Genworth, with the goal of constantly improving Genworth’s Investments processes, systems and issue resolution
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS, preferably in a business, analytical or technical discipline
5+ years relevant experience with 2+ years in financial services or investments, preferably with an insurance company
Strong knowledge of asset management, specifically Fixed Income Products
Ability to write/understand SQL and Excel Macros
Proficiency in Microsoft applications (especially strong Excel skills)
Strong verbal and written communication with ability to articulate problems and solutions and influence at all levels of the business
Ability to conduct analysis and generate conclusions within a dynamic and active environment with little advanced notice
Ability to balance managing multiple tasks, projects and processes (negotiating and listening skills)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MBA and/or CFA Certification (complete or in process.)
Experience with Markit EDM/Cadis or Eagle Pace
Experience with Business Objects
Experience with BlackRock Aladdin
Experience with Openlink’s Findur
