Investment Banking- Global Infrastructure & Power Analyst

The Investment Banking, Infrastructure & Power group provides investment banking services to targeted infrastructure and power clients across key asset classes and geographies. Our client-centric strategy leads with financial advisory and extends to the provision of financing (bond, institutional, and bank) and hedging products with our business partners throughout CIBC World Markets. The Infrastructure & Power group manages a market leading platform across the U.S., Canada, Europe and Latin America from our offices in New York, Houston, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and London.

We primarily support our clients through a variety of transactions including M&A, divestitures, construction financings, refinancings, strategic advisory/alternatives projects, capital structure solution projectsand public-private partnerships dealing with essential infrastructure assets. The team’s coverage mandate includes the following sectors, among others: airports, seaports, educational facilities, hospitals, light and heavy rail, midstream energy, power generation, regulated utilities, roads and bridges, and water.

JOB PURPOSE

The Analyst for Infrastructure & Power will work with Managing Directors, Executive Directors, Directors, and Associates to continue to expand the presence of CIBC World Markets in the project finance, infrastructure and power markets. The Analyst will provide financial modeling, analytical, structuring, research and transaction support and will assist with the execution of transactions and advisory projects such as; mergers & acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt financings, strategic advisory/alternatives projects and full capital structure solution projects. The Analyst will be expected to maintain an awareness of our clients, industry, regulatory issues and relevant economic/political trends. A team approach to executing coverage and financing assignments is designed to provide progressive on the job training.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Research and analyze information and draft infrastructure and power proposals in conjunction with Directors, Executive Directors and/or Managing Directors

* Conduct financial analysis, both for existing clients and on new infrastructure and power financing opportunities

* Develop financial models, determining the assumptions and methodology

* Liaise with other units of CIBC in preparing infrastructure and power reviews and proposals for clients’ financing needs

* Prepare industry and financial analysis to determine the feasibility of potential financing and M&A transactions

* Organize presentations to potential clients, assisting in the development of presentation information

* Perform industry comparative analysis

* Conduct industry research to help the group better understand developments in the infrastructure and power space

* Assist in due diligence

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

* Successful candidates must exhibit CIBC’s values of trust, team work, and accountability

* Relevant undergraduate degree (Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline preferred)

* An interest in the infrastructure, energy, urban development, or other related sectors, along with a strong interest in and knowledge of financial markets

* Strong technical, computational and quantitative skills

* Excellent analytical ability including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices

* Excellent understanding of financial statements, credit analysis and accounting principles

* Extremely dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations. Must be capable of assuming significantly increased levels of responsibility within short time frames

* Excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills in order to convey complex factual and conceptual information to others and promote the interests of CIBC

* Well-developed organizational and time management skills in order to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous projects

* Demonstrated job commitment including a willingness to work, as well as personal flexibility and adaptability in order to meet client requirements

* Proven ability to pay close attention to detail and multi-task under tight deadlines

* Superior knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and the ability to quickly and independently learn a variety of industry software platforms
