Associate Job Description::
Headwaters is hiring experienced investment banking associates to work within the corporate M&A team and within industry-specific teams. Associates are part of teams consisting of Managing Directors, Vice Presidents, and Analysts. They are responsible for supporting business development activities, deal execution, and managing and developing junior resources by:

  • Leveraging strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients and internal deal teams.
  • Analyzing historical financial information and building custom financial models and valuation analyses.
  • Preparing information memorandums, management presentations, and other meeting materials.
  • Working closely with industry coverage teams to develop pitch materials.
  • Performing in-depth industry research and business diligence to learn about current and prospective clients.
  • Developing and managing online data rooms, and managing clients and investors/buyers through the due diligence process.
  • Speaking with prospective investors/buyers.
  • Training, directing and developing junior resources.
  • Monitoring and coordinating transaction timelines, with increasing accountability for keeping projects on schedule.

Requirements:
Applicants wishing to apply should meet the following criteria:

  • Excellent academic achievement. High GPA at the undergraduate level (and graduate level, if appropriate) with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred. We like to work with smart and intellectually curious people.
  • Relevant experience. 3 to 6 years of direct investment banking experience at quality firms.
  • Advanced financial analysis skills. Excellent financial, credit and accounting analytical skills. Completion of a Wall Street training program is a significant plus.
  • Strong time management skills. Project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines is a must.
  • High attention to detail and fluency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Our clients expect a high quality work product. You will be required to surpass their expectations and ensure all materials are error free.
  • Creative presentation of information and data. Ability to write offering memorandums and pitch presentations is a must.
  • Series 79 FINRA License. Ideal candidates will have passed or will be required to pass the Series 79 FINRA licence within 6 months of hire.
  • Personal qualities. We are looking for leaders and highly self-motivated people with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently.
