Investment Analyst (Public Equities/Fixed Income)

Shoreline Investments is a wholly owned registered investment adviser subsidiary of HP Inc. The Shoreline team is responsible for managing the investments for various retirement plan assets, including US and international defined benefit plans, US defined contribution/401(k) plans, and global pooled investment funds.

The Investment Analyst will join a team of investment professionals focused on delivering strong investment results for HP’s retirement plans and beneficiaries. The position will report to the Head of Investments / Chief Investment Officer (CIO).

The Investment Analyst will be assigned various responsibilities, which may include:

  • Manager monitoring and due diligence (public equities or fixed income):
    • Quantitative and qualitative analysis and maintenance of records/documentation on external investment managers
    • Monitoring, recording, and analyzing the performance of existing and prospective external investment managers
    • Monitoring external investment managers’ portfolios for compliance with investment restrictions
    • Researching and analyzing new investment strategies
  • Supporting liability-driven investment strategies:
    • Analyzing the effectiveness of derivatives overlay strategies
    • Modeling of surplus risk
    • Assisting with implementation and oversight
  • Assisting with portfolio management:
    • Preparing and updating reports and analysis of current manager and security exposures across plan portfolios
  • Asset allocation:
    • Assisting in collecting and formulating expected risk and return assumptions for capital markets
    • Performing simulation analysis for asset allocation studies
  • Preparation of materials for investment team meetings and governance committees

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • CFA designation or studies highly desirable but not required
  • MBA or graduate degree desirable but not required
  • 2+ years experience with investments and portfolios

Desirable Characteristics

  • Either public equity or fixed income investment experience with external managers. Experience with liability driven pension investment strategies a plus.
  • Knowledge of investment and portfolio management theory, economics, capital markets, risk management, and asset allocation.
  • Excel modeling, PowerPoint presentation skills.
