Job Description

Summary:
GATX is looking for a motivated individual to join our Investment Analysis team in Chicago, as an Intern to assist with collection, verification and statistical analyses of rail car data to support the North America Rail Car Pricing model assumptions evaluation project. May also be required to assist group in day-to-day operations as well as in other special projects.

Responsibilities:
With oversight and direction from the Investment Analysis team, the intern will:
  • Gather relevant data from various data resource systems within the company. Scrub and clean-up data as necessary to verify rail car specific information.
  • Conduct various statistical analyses to develop conclusions supporting/justifying rail car type-specific assumptions.
  • Assist Investment Analysis team in day-to-day operations as necessary depending on the work load; entering data, creating reports and summaries.
  • Participate in special projects as necessary, providing assistance to the Investment Analysis team.

Requirements:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or similar field (GPA 3.0 or higher).
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills are required. Programming experience and/or Microsoft Access proficiency are desired.

Hours:
Monday through Friday: 8:30am to 5pm. The duration of the internship, including working days, will be agreed upon with the intern at the start of the internship program. Internship duration may not exceed 6 months per calendar year.
