JOB SUMMARY:
This position performs detailed research and analysis of investigative information from various law enforcement agencies, criminal information networks and public databases.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Researches, analyzes and evaluates investigative information from a variety of resources
  • Interprets information by selecting essential data elements and correlating new information with old information
  • Prepares and presents detailed graphical presentations and briefings; composes correspondence
  • Organizes and maintains sensitive, non-sensitive and open source, case investigative information into logical, concise and understandable order for additional analysis or review
  • Disseminates relevant investigative information in compliance with the Department of Child Safety (DCS) and law enforcement policies and procedures; ensures accuracy and completeness of information
  • Participates in multi-agency working groups conducting investigations regarding potential criminal conduct crimes against children
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

  • Federal, state, local laws, rules and DCS policies pertaining to investigative duties and responsibilities
  • Personal computers; Microsoft Office Suite and various databases

SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S):
Requires the possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.

Must be able to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card.

Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from the CPS Central Registry.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Two (2) years of experience with law enforcement, criminal justice or military agency; experience with compiling data, analyzing findings and writing reports
  • Two (2) years of college education in a criminal justice related field may substitute for one (1) year of law enforcement, criminal justice or military agency experience
  • Proficiency in Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS), Coplink and other relevant criminal justice systems

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

RETIREMENT:
Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
