Internship- Advance Engineering 2

This internship opportunity will execute a project to determine the feasibility and applicability of a steer-by-wire system. They will work with the steering system design release engineer and procurement to specificy, design and procure the necessary hardware to assemble a working ‘buck’ that will control the positioning of the steering axle using electronic feedback; ie no forced mechanical assist from the driver, just positioning input. Furthermore, the input can be controlled using analogue or digital communication to create autonomy.

• Specify, design and source a pure electric, or electric/hydraulic drive by wire steering system
• Work with the build team to build a steering system buck
• Develop a test plan demonstrating basic operation
• Execute the test plan demonstrating basics operation
• Develop a test plan to evaluate the relative effectiveness of the steering system in normal driving conditions
• Execute the test plan demonstrating driving behavior (time permitting)
• Preferred Class/ Year: Senior
