Performs complex professional level financial, accounting and auditing duties; conducts audits of RTC departments and vendors. Responsible for preparation of reports including financial reports, financial statements, audit reports, and maintains related records.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

Working Conditions: May work shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Work Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and three (3) years of professional public accounting experience.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License at the time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment with the Regional Transportation Commission in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation, including qualifying education/experience verification, social security trace, criminal history records review and a driving history records check. The background check will also consist of a personal credit history review.

The Scoring: Your score will be determined by a training and experience rating of the supplemental assessment. You will receive a score of 50 points for meeting the minimum qualification requirements listed on your application. After these requirements are met, you will receive up to an additional 50 points as outlined on the supplemental assessment questions.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Prepares a variety of audit, financial, agency, operational, management and technical reports, and financial statements. Conducts audits of RTC departments, vendors and service providers. Prepares, analyzes, and interprets financial statements, budgets, and other financial and statistical data. Prepares various federal and state governmental reports. Audits and reviews bank accounts and reconciliations, inter-agency accounts and other general ledger accounts. Acts as liaison between company and external auditors for annual financial statement audit; provides information and assistance required. Assists with preparation of audit report and prepares related audit schedules. May plan, assign and/or supervise the work of assigned staff; may function as an assistant to the section manager or as a team leader. Participates in professional development sessions or seminars; stays current on trends, innovations and legal developments in the accounting and auditing field. Conducts independent research; identifies possible areas of concern or irregularities; analyzes possible causes and recommends and evaluates alternative problem solutions. Conducts and independently completes a variety of assigned special projects as assigned by management. Maintains accurate records and files. Manages multiple projects/deliverables with short targeted completion dates. Confers with RTC staff to clarify agency organizational information and ensure a clear understanding of their responsibilities, activities and functions as well as the effectiveness of internal reporting and control systems. Other duties as assigned.
