The JetBlue Intern program is designed to develop a pipeline of well-rounded future Crewmembers. We are seeking a highly motivated individual for placement within our Corporate Tax team. This team is primarily responsible for accounting, compliance, research and planning for JetBlue’s U.S. and foreign taxes (excluding payroll). The Intern Tax will have an opportunity to work with and assist JetBlue Crewmembers on a variety of corporate tax matters.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Gather data to facilitate the outsourced-preparation of property tax returns
  • Assist with investigation of the financial regulatory requirements in international BlueCities
  • Prepare and file fuel, sales/use and value-added tax returns
  • Assist with preparation and filing of income and franchise tax returns
  • Prepare and file annual reports and business license renewals
  • Gather data for and prepare passenger tax returns and payments
  • Assist with tax budgets and forecasts
  • Prepare tax accruals and analyze and reconcile general ledger tax accounts
  • Maintain the tax calendar and meet filing and monthly financial reporting due dates
  • Assist with audits by tax authorities and internal/external financial audits
  • Assist with design and implementation of process improvements
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and internal controls are maintained
  • Assist with research to support tax compliance and planning
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

    Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Results-oriented, confident, currently enrolled undergraduate or recent graduate in Accounting, Business or finance related field
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Available to work 24-30 hours per week
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better
  • Experience with tax research tools (CCH Online) and online publications
  • Experience with financial reporting systems
  • Fluent in Spanish

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Present for core business hours with the ability to work overtime, including occasional weekend days, as the need arises, especially to meet monthly/quarterly tax filing as well as financial reporting deadlines
