Position Summary
:

Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area. Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques and production yields for existing products. Develops and conducts statistical analysis such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) targeting physical cause of failure for yield loss and improving quality. Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in design control meetings and support the development, writing and releasing of manufacturing documentation. Support validation IQ/OQ/PQ protocols, test protocols, and test method validations. Execute provided protocols and write reports to ensure equipment/processes meet part/assembly specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain simple project timelines and provides updates and feedback to project leadership.
  • Confers with team to gain decisions with management, R&D, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing, formulations, process requirements and capabilities.
  • Confers with vendors to determine basic product specifications and arrange for purchase of small equipment, materials, fixtures, and/or parts. Evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements, production and field performance data to identify issues and opportunities for improvements.
  • Plans and performs Design of Experiments (DOE) to determine optimal processing methods and formulation
  • Hands on investigation and troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Train manufacturing personnel.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in current Bachelor’s Engineering Program

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Programmable positioners, sensors and design for part fixturing
  • Working knowledge of Machine Vision applications
  • Experience supporting high volume assembly lines, medical device preferred
  • Experience with wide variety of equipment needed to for process or assembly of product
  • Semi-Automation or automation experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles a plus.
  • Experience with Six Sigma principles, a plus

  • Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Enrolled in current Bachelor’s Engineering Program

  • Travel Required:

  • Up to 25%

  • Basic understanding of general job aspects and limited understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.
  • Acquires job skills and learns the policies and procedures required to complete routine tasks.

  • Scope:

  • Work at this level requires following standardized, routine methods, under immediate supervision.
  • Assignments are routine in nature and expectation is to follow pre-established guidelines and procedures.
  • Contacts are mostly within own team and immediate supervisor.

  • Judgement:

  • Little responsibility for decisions as to method or selection of work.
  • Receives detailed instructions on routine work and new assignments.
  • Works under close supervision.
