We have an exciting internship opportunity for an undergraduate student studying Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering major at an accredited university. This position, under limited supervision, will be an internship with our General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI) group in Kaysville, UT.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops knowledge of aircraft operation, systems functionality, and maintenance procedures in support of engineering design and analysis assignments.
  • Assists in advancement of system safety assessments of aircraft and its subsystems, by supporting development of system functional hazard analyses, fault tree analyses, failure modes affect and criticality analyses, common cause analyses, and design assurance level assignments
  • Assists in the design, fabrication and assembly of components and supporting systems for aircraft, test fixtures, and calibration fixtures.
  • Performs basic engineering tasks related to design, analysis, test, integration and systems engineering.
  • Participates in the day to day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of non-routine and advanced tasks.
  • Assists in applying knowledge of engineering design and analysis to resolve problems.
  • Assists in developing electronic and hard copy models, drawings, reports, records, diagrams and charts.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Requires enrollment as an undergraduate student at a recognized college or university.
  • Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering major preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately.
  • Must possess the ability to follow general and detailed instructions as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to enable effective interface with internal professionals.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • At least a 3.0 cumulative GPA is preferred.
  • Basic CAD skills with SolidWorks (Mechanical) or Altium (Electrical) is preferred
  • Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
