Intern, Data Analytics

The Data Analytics Intern is a hands-on, collaborative role, designed with your interests, background and experience in mind. The position is designed to leverage academic learning while making a tangible contribution to COPE Health Solutions’ client work. Interns will have the opportunity to incorporate work experience into their practicum, while developing additional technical and professional skill sets.


Position Description:

  • Assist in the creation of scalable, automated processes for identifying potential areas for population health improvement, including clinical outcomes, network utilization, financial performance, among others
  • Develop analytics to assist interpretation of data from multiple sources, recommend best approaches for its consolidation, and provide and/or interpret information across divisions and departments
  • Maintain reporting tools within the firm’s internal structure and client databases and recommend quality and process improvement as identified
  • Support consultants to develop, update and disseminate knowledge documents, such as sales materials, proposals, project frameworks and project deliverables
  • Support development of industry standard assessment tools and templates to support internal or external client engagements
  • Meet with the assigned supervising team member, appropriate management and/or executive members to gain clear understanding of the projects, their goals and expected outcomes as well as maintain a timeline for the assigned projects
  • Engage team members across the organization to leverage current knowledge and expertise to drive continuous quality improvement of products and services
  • Service client accounts and cross-functional teams for population health analytics and health care technology needs
  • Additional responsibilities to be determined based on final candidate experience and interests


Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Quantitative Social Sciences, Actuarial Science or STEM field)
  • Knowledge of analytical tools such as SAS, SQL, VBA, Stata, R, etc., strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of data visualization and Business Intelligence platforms preferred (e.g., Tableau, Cognos, Qlikview)
  • Intermediate level of proficiency working with MS Office—in particular Excel and Access—required
  • Acumen for the health care industry, analytical thinking skills and a strong and dedicated work ethic are required
