Interface Administrator/DB Report Writer

Job Description

This position leads the technical and logical components of the hospital system integration and interoperability infrastructure. The primary focus will be the development and maintenance of flexible data architectures and data flows within various solution.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads meetings with peers to develop and modify applications and reports.
  • Designs DA2 Query for reports, scheduling and distribution rule.
  • Prepares the appropriate documentation to support your work.
  • Documents rules, applications and reports in accordance with client standards.
  • Develops test data and documentation for all phases of the application development life cycle.
  • Leads implementation of Health Information Exchanges (HIE) and develops project & test plan with internal and external stakeholder.
  • Performs QA testing on application functionality.
  • Participates in the design, creation, and maintenance of computerized databases.
  • Responsible for quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
  • Working with the developer team to migrate other non- relational databases/applications to relational SQL databases.
  • Updates policy and procedure (P&P) in database maintenance and data stewardship.
  • Troubleshooting and applying ad-hoc scripts for managing databases on daily basis.
  • Proactively verifying, testing and reviewing database backups, logs and recovery processes. Applying service packs, patches and upgrades to database servers on monthly basis or as needed.
  • Designing, developing, implementing and maintaining moderately complex databases, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation and statistical methods.
  • Acting as a resource for on-going SQL planning and deployment.
  • Provide technology advice, design, analysis, custom code development, and troubleshooting in the discovery workshop, design, configuration, testing, and production support of the OpenLink solution for the client’s business need.
  • Support and adhere to implementation best practices in one or more technical development areas of the OpenLink solution in all technical design, specifications, custom coding, and testing deliverables.
  • Provides support for the technical and administrative resolution of problems pertaining to clinical integration issues with ancillary application outpatient and impatient settings.
  • Develops procedures as needed for both IT and other support services to maintain system performance, usability and uptime.
  • Coordinates and attends project team meetings and user meetings.
  • Follows HIPAA, OSHA and Compliance Plan regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Able to on-call 7×24

Position Requirements:

  • Must have proven analytical and technical skills to be able to devise new and adapt existing methods, techniques, and procedures to meet specific requirements.
  • Must be able to establish and support standards appropriate for areas of responsibility.
  • Excellent customer service skills; verbal, written, and listening skills are required.
  • Proven leadership; mentoring and team development skills required.
  • Preferred 3-5 years working experience with clinical interaction with Cerner Millennium.
  • Strong knowledge of Health Information Systems as it pertains to clinical deployments, revenue management, financial integration, and ancillary product integration.
  • Knowledge of interface engines and protocols. Experience with HL7, X12 and/or XML and OPENLink.
  • Experience creating complex DA2 reports based on Cerner Domains to include: Revenue Cycle, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Imaging & Surgery.
  • Experience creating complex summary and detail DA2 reports to include: grouping, formulas, formatting rules, joining queries, interactive analysis cubes, scheduling reports.
  • Experience with DA2 Administrator security tool.
  • Strong working knowledge of ancillary departments and workflow.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance standards and regulations.
  • Outstanding listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively work and communicate with providers and practice staff.
  • Software development experience in one or more of the following: C# and Java.
  • SSMS (SQL Management Studio), PowerShell, DTA, (Database Tuning Tool), SQL Profiler, Oracle SQL Developer, Microsoft Visio, pgAdmin tool (PostGreSQL), SSIS (SQL Integration tool), SSRS (SQL Reporting tool).
  • Familiar minimally with both Windows 2008 R2 and 2012 (or higher) operating systems, MS SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2012 (or higher) database administration, Transact SQL (T-SQL) programming, database performance tuning, backup and recovery, systems analysis, security practices, and system documentation.
  • Must be an Excel Guru by Heart.
