Duties & Responsibilities

Codal’s UX team is searching for a supremely creative Interaction Designer for our office in Chicago, IL. As an artist with a strong background in designing for consumer-facing brands, our ideal candidate should be able to design around that brand, and generate a creative vision and clear direction for its digital campaigns. As a brand steward, your duty will be to ensure the logos, icons, graphics, and everything else you create aligns with the style, aesthetic, and mission of our clientele.

You must possess a mastery of design principles such as typography, illustration, imagery, content, and composition, and excel in wielding them in a brand marketing application. Other responsibilities include performing in-depth user research, developing information architecture, and regularly communicating with clients to ensure their expectations are exceeded. Codal’s designers are ones who cannot contain their passion for crafting digital experiences, and will do everything it takes to ensure their projects are pixel-perfect.

Qualifications/Requirements

While a four-year, design-related college degree is great, Codal will consider any applicants who feel they are truly experienced, skilled designers — diploma or not

You possess a strong creative intuition, and an infectious passion for design

You boast superior problem-solving & research skills—you’ll be digging deep to find the motivations & expectations of users

You thrive both independently and in a collaborative environment

You’ve got strong interpersonal skills for client communication

The ability to flourish when receiving constructive criticism, and recognize when to provide some of your own

Produce robust wireframes & prototypes (we use Axure & Sketch)

You are willing to do what it takes to get the job done, whether it’s coming early or leaving late

You can accurately communicate your design decisions, requirements, and ideas both verbally and through documentation package.

You are an organization ninja, taking a group of requirements, strategies, and ideas and organizing them into a cohesive, usable structure.

You go beyond UX and design, showing a passion for learning and understanding scripting languages and technologies relevant to the industry

Experience designing for print

Logo, icon, campaign material design

Knowledge of marketing strategy

Working knowledge of HTML, CSS & JavaScript

Basic familiarity with scripting languages and database architecture
