Information Technology Manager, EMR and Associated IT Systems

The Department of Anesthesiology is an academic department at Columbia University Medical Center focused on clinical, education, and research priorities with over 100 full-time faculty members and 140 trainees. Reporting to the Director of the Certified IT Group (CITG) for the Department of Anesthesiology with accountability to the Department Administrator, the candidate will have responsibility for managing the EMR and related IT systems for the Department. This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to contribute to the department’s priorities and learn about academic medicine by working closely with the Department’s leadership team. Under the direction of the Director of the CITG, responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Manage EMR and related applications and interfaces for the Department such as CompuRecord, CROWN, and Multicenter Perioperative Outcome Group (MPOG) with responsibility for development and implementation of system upgrades and management and resolution of technical issues

Develop plans and implementation strategies for new interfaces between systems to support clinical and business needs of the Department

Develop, test, document, and implement enhancements to existing interface environments

Work collaboratively with central IT groups to build and implement the new EPIC EMR for Anesthesiology

Provide operational support and training for EMR systems including EPIC to the Department’s clinical faculty and staff

Provide technical training or support to other CITG staff members

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent in education and experience plus ten years of related work experience

Knowledge of Operating Systems, Databases, and Programming Languages: Microsoft Server, UNIX, Oracle, SQL, C, C++, C#, Visual Basic is required

Working knowledge of clinical systems is required

Certain EPIC module certifications will need to be obtained
