Information Technology Manager

We currently have approximately 150 employees, with about 100 employees working out of our Charlotte, NC headquarters and 50 working out of our Raleigh, NC office.

We are currently looking for an experienced Technology Manager to join our team. The position will be based in our Charlotte headquarters and will report to the CFO. The role will primarily work in the office with periodic travel to our Raleigh, NC office to support employees, business needs and project sites in the field. Essential Responsibilities:

This position holds overall responsibility and accountability for all aspects of IT at Barringer Construction. This can be broken down into four main categories: strategy, management, development, and support.

Strategy

  • Consult with the leadership team on new technology and its implications in the industry.
  • Gather intelligence from leadership and employees about technology needs and future growth and proactively recommend/implement solutions.
  • Translate business needs to IT solutions.
  • Develop and implement application roadmaps, consolidations, and embedded vendor replacement/migration plans.
  • Evaluate, test, and recommend new opportunities for enhancing our software, hardware, and IT processes.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure.
  • Represent the IT Department in senior level work groups, teams, committees and/or meetings, both within the company and with external entities as well.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an IT business continuity and disaster recovery plan.
  • Management

  • Develop our IT team as the company continues to grow.
  • Manage daily operations of the IT department.
  • Provide oversight of the services contracted with third party consultants.
  • Serve as the liaison between our employees and IT vendors while overseeing the selection and implementation of software programs and hardware resources.
  • Manage the company website and internal sharepoint.
  • Work with CFO to develop and manage an annual budget.
  • Development

  • Work with internal constituents to define application/database development and determine project scope and limitations.
  • Continue customization and adoption of our software including ERP and Construction management platforms, etc.
  • Maintain and keep up with upgrades, settings, user groups, security settings etc.
  • Support

  • Serve as IT hardware asset management subject matter expert. Which includes acquisition, deployment, utilization, tracking, security, and final disposition of IT assets for office and field, including computers, desks, accessories, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, routers, servers etc.
  • Manage networks and internet access within both office locations as we as field locations.
  • Troubleshoot computer hardware and software problems for the entire organization.
  • Manage security settings for all software applications.
  • Carry out the technology side of onboarding and offboarding employees (devices, user IDs, etc.).
  • Submit support cases, issues and suggestions on behalf of our employees to serve as liaison with third-party support resources.
  • Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years professional experience in an IT role, Or 7+ years professional experience in an IT role.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional leadership experience in management or supervisory positions.
  • Professional experience in a small to medium-sized business/organization environment and a working knowledge of business functions (accounting, finance, operations, HR, etc.)

  • Travel:

    Periodic travel to support employee and business needs at project sites in the field and remote offices. Typical limited within North and South Carolina. Attend industry conference and events.
