The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) works with statewide partners to create a positive business climate that encourages dynamic economic development and sustainable job growth. Description of Job

OEDIT is currently seeking an Industry Development Manager to serve OEDIT’s Global Business Development Division with duties related to Business Attraction, Retention and Expansion related to Key Industries as identified in the Colorado Blueprint. In addition, the Industry Development Manager will provide oversight and support to programs related to economic development projects and prospects across the state. The Industry Development Managers work in a fast-paced environment driven by excellent communication and superior delivery of customer service. Adaptability and execution are the foremost traits that allow the Industry Development team to be successful.

Responsibilities will include the following:
Business Attraction, Retention and Expansion efforts for Colorado Industries, which includes energy and natural resources, electronics, infrastructure engineering, tourism, and food & agriculture. Industry focus may be changed depending on applicant’s previous work experience or expertise.

Thorough knowledge of OEDIT’s incentives, divisions, programs and processes to provide effective and efficient customer service to OEDIT’s clients

Close partnership and communication with Business Funding and Incentives Division

Support OEDIT’s Global Business Development team in project/proposal development, management, and execution

Regular communication and engagement with local economic development partners, industry associations, stakeholders and communities across the state on topics related to economic development, state resources, initiatives and business ecosystem

In-state and out-of-state travel for assignments related to business attraction, retention and expansion

Provide background information and briefings to relevant stakeholders which may include other state agencies, the Governor’s Office, and those assigned by the Senior Industry Development Manager, Director of Global Business Development, and/or Executive Director

Manage and lead special projects related to accelerating OEDIT initiatives and programs

Provide project and program support at the direction of the Director of Global Business Development and Executive Director

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in business administration, finance, economics, political science, communications, or other relevant fields of study.

2 years of experience in economic development or business development related work

Qualifications:
Strong independent work skills with a proven track record of taking initiative and developing relationships with key decision makers within an organization

Good communication skills necessary to establish and maintain relationships, strong attention to detail, creativity and motivation to meet and exceed established goals.

A proven track record of successfully maintaining and developing business and community relationships

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of state government structures and economic development

Knowledge or previous usage of Salesforce.com or comparable CRM platform
