Human Systems Integration Analyst

Apogee Engineering, LLC is currently seeking a Human Systems Integration Analyst (HSI) located at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH that will support the purpose and mission of the 711th Human Systems Integration Directorate that will optimize warfighter capability through a human-centric approach to system development, acquisition, and sustainment. The HSI Analyst position will be performing high level operational analyses and business case studies to support the translation of Defense Planning Guidance into a set of capabilities and will be wo rking with the human factors and human systems integration team to support the Air Force human systems integration program.

What you’ll be doing: Performing human factors analysis, through both field research of various systems and through literature research on various biomedical, psychological, social, weapons platform, physiological, human factors engineering, and human systems integration topics to gather information for task analysis. Applying human systems considerations throughout the acquisition life cycle ensuring that the human-related risks, issues, assumptions and constraints are identified during capability planning and requirements generation. Designing human-system views to capture the human component to inform subsequent requirements generation and HSI activities.

  • Participating in High Performance Teams (HPTs) to ensure representation of the human element in team deliberations and products and providing tailored inputs regarding resource requirements, process improvements, shortfalls, and lessons learned in implementing HSI across the MAJCOM or Air Force.
  • Designing and applying HSI awareness campaigns as well as providing opportune advocacy briefings to MAJCOM.
  • Coordinating with the client to identify and document operational performance, safety and health lessons learned during operations and sustainment.
  • Reviewing system modification forms for human-related issues and to drive HSI domain considerations into deficiency investigations and resolutions.

What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human factors engineering, systems engineering, aerospace engineering or related field with a preference given to a degree in HSI, certification in HSI, or participation in a HSI certificate program.
  • 5+ years’ experience in HSI and defense acquisitions, completing laboratory and field research along with the ability to write a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses.
  • The ability to apply human performance theories and principles in the analysis and design of human systems, apply human modeling capabilities to facilitate the analysis and design of human systems, synthesize and appraise the domains of HSI in a systems acquisition context, and appraise the political, organizational, social, and economic issues associated with integrating human-machine systems into organizations.
  • A knowledge of Government regulations, manuals, technical orders, standards and industry publications.
  • To be a recognized expert in specifications and/or utilization in a specific HSI domain (manpower, personnel, training, human factors engineering, environment, safety, occupational health, survivability, and habitability).
  • The ability to demonstrate and communicate through a combination of education and experience.
