Human Service Assistant

Alliance Human Services, Inc . has an exciting part-time opportunity for an experienced Human Services Assistant to join our not-for-profit agency. We are looking for a Bachelor’s level Human Services Assistant with experience in the field of Social Work to act as the care coordinator for the children we place with foster parents in the Bakersfield community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Program Director, the FFA Human Services Assistant provides child care and supervision to children in placement on an intermittent basis, as assigned acts as a coordinator of treatment foster care services for clients and caregivers. Critical duties include ensuring quality services and beneficial outcomes, in accordance with our accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The candidate must be able to solve problems, make clinically sound decisions, inspire confidence, and facilitate communication. Spanish speaking candidate preferred.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide developmentally appropriate care and supervision to children in placement. This includes participating in activities with the child, ensuring the child is clean and safe, fed, appropriately supervised, and working toward the goals stipulated in the Needs and Service Plan.
• Participate in special events and projects sponsored or required by the foster family agency, as assigned.
• Assist with transportation of children to/from medical, therapy, educational, monitored visits, other community events and appointments.
• Work with the FFA Social Workers to ensure the safety of the child in placement and provide a supportive resource to Certified Parents (i.e. respite and adjunctive care).
• Maintains general knowledge of child development, best practices in regard to child care, behavior management, and the basic provisions of Title 22 and 17 regulations.
• Appropriately document placement events which occur while the child is in his/her care, as requested by the FFA Social Worker.
• Provide assistance to the foster family agency in stabilizing placements and providing brief respite services, as assigned.
• Monitoring of court ordered visits between placed child and biological family.
