HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

This position is located in the Human Resources Department of Cobb County Government.

Salary

$16.72 – $25.94 per hour

Essential Duties

Performs compensation activities including; preparing, processing, analyzing, and reviewing personnel transactions using a HRIS , reviewing hiring proposals for appropriate content and analyzing proposed salaries for equity within the organization; payroll entry and change processing; ensuring compliance with policies/regulations.

Conducts on-boarding activities including: ensuring offer letters are sent, all hiring approvals have been obtained, employees are scheduled for orientation, all associated paperwork and information is sent to the new employee and assisting with new hire orientation.

Performs benefits administration activities including: processing personnel change forms, providing general plan information, document verification, and retirement options; ensuring compliance with county and Federal policies/regulations.

Performs off-boarding activities such as: preparing and processing separation from service and retirement paperwork, conducting exit interviews.

Interacts with employees, department representatives, and other individuals to assist with human resources transactions, interpret human resource policies, and/or exchange information regarding human resource functional assignment area.

Counsels with managers and employees and independently renders decisions regarding human resources matters or resolution of problems.

Receives and responds to requests, complaints, concerns, and general inquiries; provides resolution accordingly.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Labor Relations, Public Administration or related field; supplemented by one year previous experience in human resources in one or more of the assigned specialty areas, e.g., benefits administration, recruitment and selection, training and employee development, compensation and records administration; additional years of experience may substitute for a portion of the required education; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with an automated applicant tracking system ( ATS ) and/or HRIS system is highly preferred.

Experience with conducting compensation analysis is also highly preferred.

HRCI , SHRM , or World at Work certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and lift and/or move up to 10 to 20 pounds. While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors
