SUMMARY: The Human Resources Specialist (HR Specialist) administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; participates in developing HR goals, objectives, and systems; recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

  • Prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
  • Assists in developmentand implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Enters new hire information in system and conducts background checks on all applicants.
  • Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees.
  • Performs Family and Medical Leave administration to include responding to all requests for leave, monitoring status of employees on leave, and communicating conclusion of leave.
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • This position requires standing, sitting, stooping, lifting up to 10 pounds or more, bending, climbing, twisting upper body, walking, running, carrying, listening, talking, use of telephone, and exposure to medical equipment and persons with risk of illness.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Two years of related experience and/or training in the HR field.
