Human Resources Manager

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (“FMIC”) is seeking an experienced HR Manager for our Scottsdale, AZ location. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who possesses versatility and is comfortable with operating across tactical and strategic spaces. Joining this global HR team as our HR Manager means stepping into an integral position within the overall HR organization, responsible for taking a very active role in the implementation of strategies and programs in support of both short- and long-term business objectives with an overall goal of attracting, retaining, and developing the best talent for the organization. You will be a member of an extended HR team covering the Americas, reporting to the Director, Human Resources.

Overall, your core responsibilities will include (but not necessarily be limited to):

  • Understanding the Fender business model and objectives while contributing to the development/implementation of both business and HR strategies that align with those objectives.
  • Driving consistency in HR approach, practices and procedures.
  • Partnering at all levels of the organization from leadership teams to individual contributors, providing consultation and recommendation on employee and business issues.
  • Providing guidance and training to managers and employees on a wide range of employee relations issues.
  • Investigating formal employee complaints, make recommendations on the company’s response to the employee, and ensure that legal requirements are met in terms of employee relations to minimize liability/exposure.
  • Managing leave of absence, accommodation, and worker’s compensation request processes.
  • Driving informed decision making utilizing data to identify trends, determine root causes of issues, and develop effective solutions.
  • Working closely with peers and other members of the regional and/or global HR teams to effectively partner with the business and successfully drive company-wide programs and initiatives including performance management, salary administration, recruiting, workforce planning, organizational and talent reviews, and change management.
  • Providing coaching/training with managers and employees to support leadership development, business decision-making, human resources management, problem solving and performance management.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and assist in the creation of, and adherence to, policies, standards, and procedures.

The following key skills, characteristics and experience are needed to meet the requirements of this role:

  • 5-7 years of proven HR experience (preferably generalist) with a demonstrated advancement and progression of your HR knowledge and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated competence in high volume employee relations and performance management
  • Knowledge of US federal, state and local employment laws in particular AZ, CA, TN
  • Able to work effectively in fast-paced and rapidly changing environments
  • Strong people-management competencies, with ability to manage across locations
  • Flexible and high tolerance for ambiguity
  • Able to work independently and within a team to achieve results
  • Strong business acumen, consulting, analysis, communication, presentation, negotiation, conflict management and problem solving skills.
  • Experience working within a global enterprise-wide HRIS program, preferably SuccessFactors
  • Familiar with behavioral and strategic interviewing methodologies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with emphasis in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or related area preferred
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
