Human Resources Liaison/Diversity Officer

The Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea is seeking an engaging, collaborative, and dynamic individual to serve as

Human Resources Liaison

. Our applicant will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team in managing the overall Human Resources services and supports for the Soldiers’ Home including employee orientation, recognition programs, compliance, and all employment related services. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to diversity and inclusion, have the ability to think strategically and incorporate them into the organization, and set the foundation for a positive culture.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

Oversee all Human Resources functions, including organizational planning, workplace safety, policies and procedures, employee classification, recruitment and staffing, performance management, staff investigations, and reporting;

·

Serve as liaison to area field office, Labor Relations Unit, Department of Veterans’ Services, Secretariat Office of Human Resources and Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity;

·

Provide guidance to staff and senior leaders to ensure that policies and practices are maintained in order to effectively deliver exceptional services;

·

Serve as the agency Civil Rights, Diversity and ADA Compliance Officer; Develop and manage Affirmative Action plans and support diversity as a strategic advantage;

·

Foster the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea’s mission, vision and operational policies while maintaining compliance with Department of Public Health, Joint Commission, Department of Veteran Affairs, and state/federal regulations;

·

Interact with residents, family members, employees, visitors, vendors, and the general public;

·

Support strong workforce development and succession planning through recruitment and retention programs, staff development, employee satisfaction and engagement;

·

Provide advice and guidance to managers on a wide range of issues including recruitment, staffing, performance management, classification/compensation, and employee relations matters;

·

Represent the agency in statewide human resources efforts, trainings, task forces, diversity meetings and other special projects/assignments;

·

Participate in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss programs, budgets, reports, correspondence, personnel, and other concerns or issues.

Preferred Qualifications

:

·

Proficient understanding of principles and practices of human resource management preferably in a healthcare facility; General concepts of diversity, equity and inclusion;

·

Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws, Department of Public Health regulations, and Joint Commission regulations;

·

Experience working with staff in a unionized environment, on-boarding, employee relations, and handling grievances;

·

Outstanding organizational, written and oral communications skills; attention to detail;

·

Ability to work under pressure and manage projects with a high degree of accuracy;

·

Capacity to maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information;

·

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook;

About the Agency:
The Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea is a state-funded, fully accredited long term health care facility that offers veterans quality health care, including full-time residential accommodations. The Soldiers’ Home also serves Veterans living in a residential facility and staff for both LTC and dormitory setting is staffed by approximately 330 administrators, clinicians, nurses, certified nursing assistants, skilled trade, dietary, housekeeping, contractors, consultants and general administrative personnel. Qualifications

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, supervisory or managerial experience in business administration, business management, or public administration.
