Human Resources Benefits Coordinator

The Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC is seeking a Human Resources Benefits Coordinator to work with employees regarding a variety of benefits and various other human resource functions for multiple companies and assist in recommending new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency throughout the Company.

More specifically, the Human Resources Benefits Coordinator will administer employee health, welfare and retirement plans for multiple companies as well as act as a liaison between employees, insurance providers and resolve benefit related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations. This position will also provide administrative support to human resources function as needed (e.g. correspondence generation, record keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry).

Job Requirements

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Administer retirement, supplemental and health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Track eligibility, process enrollments and changes and ensuring proper documents are received and provided to insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions. Ensure plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and provisions are followed.
  • Process monthly billings. Review billings for accuracy, codes and advances for payments. Resolve discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company. Complete reports for management as requested.
  • Provide benefit statements to a variety of employee types for multiple companies.
  • Act as a resource for Factory Payroll and Human Resource contacts to ensure their understanding and compliance with benefits and HR policies and regulations. Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommends/implements solutions as appropriate.
  • Assist with preparation of various plan documents such as Defined Contribution Plans, Defined Benefit Plans, Medical Plans and multiple employee paid Supplemental Plans for multiple companies.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Work directly with outside auditors to ensure plan compliance.
  • Edit and proofread company policies & procedures and related documents as needed.
  • Maintain accurate employee files for multiple companies.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Bachelor’s degree;
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Benefits/Human Resource related field;
  • OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
