At Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, our mission is to serve the community by helping people access affordable housing. By working with our collaborative partners, we develop, renovate and maintain housing, promote neighborhood revitalization; and assist residents in accessing needed social services. All other things being equal and acceptable, applicants who are not current CMHA employees, but who reside in the units operated by CMHA, will be selected for positions over outside candidates who are non-residents.

Scope of Position

Advise clients and property owners of housing assistance regulations, policies, and procedures as outlined by HUD and CMHA. Additionally, this position is responsible for interviewing, investigating, verifying eligibility, income, assets, deductions, and household composition of clients to process housing assistance subsidies to clients and property owners in the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Candidate Characteristics Desired

• Strong multi-tasking and organization skills with the ability to pay attention to detail.
• Ability to work well under pressure and with diverse populations.
• Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
• Ability to work well within a team setting.
• Experience determining income and rent calculation using HUD guidelines is strongly preferred.

Experience

• Associate Degree in Business, Sociology, Communication or Community Relations.
• Two years’ experience in social work, interviewing clients, and evaluating personal income and other assets for computing rental subsidies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• General business math competencies and time management skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Product and Internet data websites.
• May consider work experience in lieu of education requirement.
