Health, Safety & Environmental Supervisor

Position Title: Environmental, Health & Safety Supervisor

Job Summary:
The EHS Supervisor ensures the effectiveness of safety, health, environmental and security programs in a chemical manufacturing plant by auditing, collecting data, reporting, and improving site policies.

Essential Job/Responsibilities:
Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Monitors and ensures compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and security regulations for a chemical manufacturing facility.

Supervises and directs the work of Safety Technician.

Responsible for all regulatory compliance and reporting to agencies and acts as site contact for regulatory agencies. Maintains compliance calendar for the site.

Manages audit program of all applicable plant policies related to safety, health, environment and security.

Develops or provides input to hazardous material communications, including maintaining safety data sheets.

Directs workers and manages contractors engaged in field and laboratory verification of compliance with environmental health and safety regulations.

Maintains the site’s EHS&S standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.

Ensures training for workers on issues related to environmental, health & safety and security is completed in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Develops and implements any new environmental, health & safety and security programs including the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and training.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in related field

5+ years of experience in similar role in chemical manufacturing or similar industry or equivalent experience

Authorization to work permanently in the US.

Communicates effectively to employees at all levels of the organization. Follows through on commitments to other departments.

Develops and maintains good working relationships with contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.

Ability to read and interpret applicable regulations.

Experience with WA Labor & Industries regulations and OSHA VPP program a plus.
