HBO Project Manager, Corporate Systems

OVERALL SUMMARY

HBO Media Technology and Information Services (MTIS) seeks a Project Manager to help manage the Corporate Systems portfolio of applications and projects. The primary focus will be supporting vendor packaged applications used by various HBO business units, and corporate functions such as HR, Payroll, Legal, Security, Real Estate & Facilities, POS software, and internal MTIS functions. The person in this role must possess excellent people, and client relationship management skills, and partner closely with business clients to provide solutions meeting business objectives.

The Project Manager is required to have strong skills in managing multiple business groups, excellent interpersonal skills, strong project management skills, strong business analysis skills, strong presentation skills, and strong leadership skills, and preferably a background that includes supporting package/vendor solutions.

The successful candidate must be effective in:

  • Interacting with business clients, vendors and technical staff members to achieve desirable project results.
  • Balancing multiple projects and aggressive timelines.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in meeting management and conflict resolution.
  • Communicating the status, benefits, and impact of projects on business strategy.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement.

Duties will include:

  • Evaluation and recommendation of new technical solutions, (packages or in-house development).
  • Managing all phases of full life cycle projects.
  • Developing and monitoring program and project plans.
  • Engaging with technical teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle to deliver solutions.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather, analyze, define, and document business processes and functional requirements.
  • Review third-party software products and recommend potential vendors and develop integration strategies
  • Support all phases of project management including budgeting, task execution, and change management
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams through meetings and progress measurement activities which bring distinct, specific projects to completion on time and within budget.
  • Estimate resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
  • Educate clients about technology capabilities and advocate client interests within IT.
  • Participate in and coordinate application troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Deliver program status reporting to the business clients and IT senior leadership
  • Participate in the team’s project portfolio planning and prioritization.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years working as a Project Manager in an IT organization.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Business Analysis.
  • Expert with Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, Visio & PowerPoint.
  • A self-starter, able to work in a new business environment, recognizing shifting priorities and demands.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead teams, interact with clients, and work collaboratively across an IT organization.
  • Skilled in tools and techniques for selecting/implementing vendor products.
  • Skilled in requirement gathering tools and techniques.
  • Skilled in business process redesign tools and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of application design and configuration.
  • Highly skilled in testing development and execution.
  • Accomplished in training development and delivery.
  • Demonstrated mastery of troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Knowledgeable of business continuity and/or disaster recovery for supported systems.
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Strong understanding of standard software delivery methodologies.
  • Media related industry experience would be a plus.
  • Ability to work and manage across multiple locations and time zones.
  • Ability to work independently, and report to management located remotely in a different time zone.
  • Strong attention to detail.
