Graphic/Creative Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION

The creative coordinator collaborates with the marketing and communications team and other departments to bring the Y brand vision to life through creative, innovative campaigns that drive revenue and build awareness. Following Y-USA brand guidelines, the creative/graphic
designer designs print and digital collateral for the entire organization and guides the effort to visually represent the Y as a leading non-profit.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Strategy

1. Develop internal and external creative that aligns with association marketing and communications plan.

Creative/Design

1. Designs and produces compelling print and digital materials in accordance with YMCA brand strategy and style guidelines, including but not limited to:

a. Seasonal program guides

b. Advertisements for newspapers and other periodicals

c. Direct mail pieces

d. Brochures

e. Posters

f. PowerPoint presentations

g. Flyers

h. Banners

i. Branch TVs

j. Digital communications

k. Website

2. Works with marketing and communications team to conceptualize and develop marketing campaigns.

3. Monitors brand compliance in all print and digital communications.

4. Proofs and approves any staff-created flyers or collateral.

5. Manages multiple, varied projects with complex timelines and production schedules.

6. Provides and enforces quality control standards for art file management, pre-press processes and project archiving.

7. May perform proofreading as well as some copywriting/editing of YMCA materials.

8. Offers guidance and recommendations for facility paint colors and interior design that reflect the Y brand.

9. Takes and edits photographs/video as needed.

SKILLS

1. Solid understanding of industry standard pre-press print production protocols.

2. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and SEO best practices a plus

3. Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage several projects at once.

4. Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.

5. Ability to work with staff at all levels.

6. Ability to self-direct and work independently on assigned tasks.

OTHER

1. Participates in required Manager On Duty shifts.

2. Completes other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, media or related field.

2. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a graphic designer.

3. Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver).

4. Strong portfolio that demonstrates evidence of design abilities, both print and digital.

5. Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

6. Non-profit experience preferred.
