Graphic Designer

Formative is seeking a rock-star Graphic Designer – with big dreams and a passion for beautiful visual communications – for part-time (20 hours/week) contract work at its Provo, UT office. Maybe you’re a just-graduated student with a BFA in Graphic Design. Or a graduate who isn’t looking for full-time employment, but has a great aesthetic and wants to keep your skills sharp?

Who are we looking for? One part design ace, one part marketing thinker, two parts humble ambition. We’re a fast-growing digital marketing agency located in the heart of downtown Seattle, and now building out a presence in Utah. We deliver big-agency thought leadership and capabilities in an engaging, fun environment. Our leadership hails from some of the world’s top digital agencies like Digitas and Razorfish, and our team of 25+ brings deep experience and enthusiasm to each client project. We work closely with our clients to understand their challenges and to design and build marketing programs and digital applications that help solve them. In some cases, we handle deep business and marketing strategy, in others we design marketing campaigns. Some of our work requires light-touch design like social media content and collateral, working under a client’s existing brand; and some work gives us a blank canvas where we work our design magic.

REQUIREMENTS :

Strong, relevant academic background (preferably BA / BFA in Graphic Design, or related field) and/or 2+ years equivalent experience.
A strong online portfolio, exhibiting clean visual design sensibilities.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
Ability to contribute to creative concepts and collaborate with design team toward end result.
Self-motivated individual with the ability to take direction and constructive criticism and complete the task at hand quickly and efficiently.
Experience with visual story-telling across a variety of digital and print media.
Balancing different projects with multiple deadlines smoothly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and quality control while maintaining ability to see the big picture.
A real thirst to learn – about design, marketing, agencies, media
Occasional travel to client locations and/or Seattle headquarters may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute to the creation of original & strategic concepts through active participation in brainstorming and other idea-generating sessions.
Work with the Formative creative team – Designers, Art Directors, and Creative Director – on the look and feel of creative concepts.
Work with the rest of the Formative team – Strategists, Client Directors, Project Managers, Content Developers – to create a holistic plan for a client project.
Develop Brand Systems & Collateral
Visual systems, logos and unique artwork for brands
PowerPoint templates (.potx) based on existing brand guides
Word templates (.dot) based on existing brand guides
Create a range of print and digital content – with a special emphasis on content for social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc).
Maintain deep expertise on social media channels and be able to communicate best practices in order to be a resident ‘social media expert’ – both to advise our team, as well as clients, when necessary.
Participate in internal and client-facing meetings.
Partner with creative leads, media, delivery, experience and technology at different levels to ensure the solution meets brief and program objectives.
