Graphic Designer/Events Planner

The Graphic Designer will process and create digital and hand-rendered graphic images for output to film, hard copy, multi-image or large format media. The graphic designer will also manage the printing of produced materials to multiple internal and external output services maintaining the inventory of expandable materials while also monitoring industry trends.

  • Assists in the design and development of ads, brochures, posters, signage and other printed materials for university publication and distribution.
  • Designs and creates departmental, faculty and staff web pages.
  • Recommends and supplies digital photographic files for publications and websites.
  • Performs digital videotape transfer and off line editing for faculty and staff materials.
  • Converts video to digital format and edits/produces video clips to be later used and/or presented in different publications and/or presentations.

Must be able to juggle multiple projects, assist manager, meet aggressive deadlines, AND drive creativity.

Projects are diverse; from designing a flyer/evite/brochure/promotional item, to creating themed graphics for an event, to continuous content management and webpage development of the University’s website. Must assist with email marketing campaigns and have familiarity with Constant Contact, Mailchimp and ALL graphic design software.

Assistance with Social media postings is also required.

You will work as part of team that builds and cranks out designs for web and print projects, efficiently, and flawlessly.

Great attention to detail is critical and a proactive attitude is a must.

Your responsibilities:

  • Develop creative solutions that meet established criteria
  • Collaborate with campaign marketing managers to create marketing assets that meet campaign goals
  • Translate established designs into a range of formats and platform specific requirements
  • Structure own work/organize and prioritize project tasks to meet deadlines
  • Participate in meetings
  • Demonstrate consistent brand/visual elements across web, print, and social media
  • Work within budget and time constituents
  • Execute clearly defined project tasks, working closely with project team member(s)
  • Assist in layout of a biweekly newsletter, recruitment materials, brochures, flyers, evites, etc.
  • Maintains records of facility use, and revenue and expense reports.
  • Creates, updates, and revises inventory and maintenance checklists.
  • Provides recommendations to upper management in regards to vendor, venue, and food services.
  • Ensures that events proceed as scheduled and do not conflict with other activities.
  • Manages and coordinates all logistics of the event and schedules planning meetings with any / all collaborating parties to define roles / responsibilities (if appropriate).
  • Acts as liaison to vendors and external entities.
  • Guarantees that activities and costs remain within set budgetary constraints.
  • Supervises registration and check in at events.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1 year of work related experience
  • Strong technical abilities in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and familiar with MS Office
  • Passion for high quality/accuracy in design standards
  • Understanding of web development needs
  • Ability to learn and grow
  • Strong organizational skills to set priorities and manage time
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas
  • Work through approval process and direct designs
  • Strong knowledge of print, pre-press and digital production
  • Experience in sending files to press for production
  • Strong collaboration, leadership, and communication skills to work in a close-knit team
  • Motivated, self-starter and willing to take ownership of a wide variety of projects in a collaborative environment
