POSITION TITLE: Graphic Designer

POSITION REPORTS TO: Art Director

POSITION SUMMARY: MLB Network seeks a Graphic Designer with proven creative vision and strong design sense. The Graphic Designer will help to create on-air content that reinforces the branding/creative goals as established by the Art Director and Director, Creative Design.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work together with the Art Director to design and create on-air graphics packages/elements from concept to completion for MLBN shows/properties.
• Develop creative ideas and unique design solutions that are continually pushing the limits and raising the creative bar to new heights.
• Create and present storyboards for creative ideas, designs and animations.
• Work along with artists in the Creative Services department to reach creative goals.
• Stay current with creative and technical industry trends.
• Other such duties as required.

It is expected that the Graphics Designer will maintain and increase knowledge in the Creative Services discipline as well as the business on an ongoing basis.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate must have most if not all of the following skills and experiences:

• 0-5 years’ Broadcast design or related business experience.
• Experience in the television, advertising, affiliate sales or production industries is preferred.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Be extremely organized and demonstrate initiative and an ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
• Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Highly proficient with the current version of Adobe After Effects and skilled in the development of motion graphics.
• Proficient with the current versions of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Proficient in Apple OSX platform.
• Knowledge of Final Cut Pro X preferred.
• Knowledge of Apple’s Motion or Foundry’s Nuke is a plus.
• Knowledge of Cinema 4D or Maya a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Major League Baseball and National Hockey League a plus.
• Ability to sit / stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to ten pounds.
• Possess visual acuity sufficient to perform required tasks.
• Possess manual dexterity sufficient to perform required tasks.
• Possess a level of hearing sufficient for effective interaction with stakeholders by various means.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree is required; Computer Arts or Graphics major is highly preferred.
