Graphic Designer

Tacodeli is a small but mighty Austin-based taqueria founded in 1999, with roots in Mexico City, where our founder, Roberto, grew up. Years later, his childhood memories mixed with Austin’s friendly vibes to inspire Tacodeli’s food and the way we share it. The result is a big, ambitious menu, prepared by hand every day. We have a healthy obsession with both the quality of our ingredients and the quality of our lives. Tacodeli has been sourcing locally since before “farm to table” was a thing, and today, we have nine restaurants, including locations in Dallas, Houston and Plano, all offering the same high quality and delicious tacos as our original location off the Barton Creek Greenbelt. We also sell three of our salsas – including the legendary Salsa Doña – at Whole Foods, a partner who also began in Austin with the same focus on quality and balance. Our ambition is to keep growing and sharing our food with more and more people across Texas and beyond. As we grow, we are determined to maintain our unique and uplifting entrepreneurial vibe and the quality of the food that started it all.

We are looking for a creative and ambitious graphic designer who understands the Tacodeli brand and can represent who we are and our mission through engaging visual designs across various platforms. Your work will be used for website content, t-shirts, in-store signage, social media campaigns and more. For this reason it is critical for us to partner with a designer who truly appreciates our brand and can both maintain it and evolve with us.

We are looking for someone on a part-time basis with potential to increase availability as needed. This role would be based in Austin. The individual would be required to come to the Tacodeli office for meetings and design reviews, but will be able to work remotely day-to-day.

This role is currently a part-time role with potential for increased engagement (we will give you advanced notice if so). You will work within the Marketing team and across other departments requiring graphic design materials to produce visual products for online, print, packaging, clothing and other uses that support the goals of the business in a simple and concise manner.

You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing and delivering the final art for multiple projects, often working on simultaneous timelines. You will be expected to communicate clearly regarding timelines and delivery expectations, taking full ownership of ensuring alignment among all project stakeholders. You may be involved in the evolution of the Tacodeli brand identity, and other duties as assigned. This role will report to the Director of Marketing. You’re a great fit for this job if you:

  • Have at least 7 years of graphic design experience, ideally in restaurant or a CPG context
  • Possess a degree in graphic design or another relevant discipline
  • Are looking for a flexible schedule
  • Are design focused and can maintain a consistent brand throughout a variety of mediums
  • Loves the details and have an eagle eye for color, style, layout and might be a typography nerd too
  • Have taken projects from an idea on a napkin to a final, polished product
  • Have experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Know how to be resourceful and carry an idea through within existing design boundaries
  • Are a team player – able to carry your own weight in this role, but happy to chip in to help others
  • Are humble – we take our work seriously, but not ourselves, so be confident in what you can do but please leave your ego at the door
  • Are just as comfortable doing routine day-to-day work as much as the truly creative and exciting work
  • Are as passionate about customer experience as we are
  • Love tacos

Photography experience is a strong plus, and a portfolio you can share with us is a must!
