Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, visualizing, designing and managing the production of marketing materials for Northern California Whole Foods Market. This position is responsible for managing multiple projects under the guidance of the regional Creative Coordinator.

Create innovative, cohesive, & effective graphic presentation of signage, collateral materials & promotions for in-store and out of store materials for Regional Marketing programs. Create design solutions that are grounded in solid conceptual thinking with beautiful aesthetic that is on brand & on trend. Provide mentorship & guidance to in-store graphic artist and help to ensure brand compliance. Perform print production task including, but not limited to downloading files, Photoshop manipulation work, preparing files for print & color correction.

Work with Creative Coordinator to provide design training and style standards of existing and new marketing programs to store graphic artist. Responsible for maintaining the creative vision of the Creative Coordinator with individual project contributions. Will report to the Regional Creative Coordinator.

Knowledge, skills & abilities required

3-5 years professional design experience in retail or consumer products focused and preferably in food.

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design preferred or equivalent work experience.

Excellent communication & presentations skills and ability to communication effectively to business leaders.

Strong foundation knowledge of layout, color, grids, icons, typography, proportion, photography, motion/rich media and brand to create elegant, smart solutions and high-quality deliverables

Thorough knowledge of print production,font & proper file preparation.

Awareness of the latest design, illustration and photography trends and ability to find ways to adapt these into strategic designs within the Whole Foods Market brand.

Ability to take constructive criticism and change direction when needed.

Strong attention to detail and ability to edit/proof copy when needed.

Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively, making timely and quick decisions in order to meet project deadlines.

Ability to handle high pressure/stressful situations in a professional manner.

Ability to keep projects on track financially, creatively and in accordance with production deadlines & Whole Foods Market brand standards.

Photo shoot art direction experience a plus.

Proficient in Mac OS with working knowledge of PC operating system

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, Word, Power Point, & Keynote.

An awareness of legal/copyright issues that might pertain to projects.

Ability to troubleshoot computer problems.

Ability to travel as needed.

A strong portfolio required for consideration, showing great sense of design, creativity and good communication.
