GL Accountant

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for the accounting for several different corporate entities in the general ledger accounting system. This position works closely with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and human resources. This person must be diligent and self-motivated, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet accounts, including all bank accounts, for the different properties in the accrual-based accounting system- Navision, the company’s general ledger accounting software package
  • Work closely with accounting group to identify, track and record inter-company transactions and allocations
  • Analyze transaction data for specific account codes for the purpose of identifying potential budget variances, compiling statistical information, developing procedures, and conforming to established financial practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain capital assets records in coordination with Accounts Payable, and post monthly depreciation expense.
  • Prepare daily Management reports.
  • Perform daily auditing tasks for each hotel.
  • Calculate and post monthly Cost of Goods Sold
  • Calculate and post monthly Idaho Sales & Use Tax
  • Create management reports through Jet Reports software when appropriate.
  • Month-end and year- end closings
  • Maintain pre-paid accounts and accruals, recognizing income and expense when appropriate
  • Assist with any audits
  • Prepare month-end financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, and budgets in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with internal policies
  • Prepare semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings including payroll withholding taxes, property taxes, and sales tax
  • Participate in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

Requirements :

  • 2 or 4 Year Accounting Degree
  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets and ERP accounting systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization
  • Team player with ability to work independently
