General Supervisor

3M is seeking a General Supervisor for the Decatur Film Facility located in Decatur, AL.

Job Summary :
The person hired for the position of General Supervisor will provide supervisory support for manufacturing operations within the plant and is responsible for driving safety, quality, service, productivity, and employee engagement.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibility includes all production and engineering activities for the assigned operations. Works with Value Stream Manager and Operations Manager to determine priorities, timetables and assign resources/tasks. Supports continuous improvement projects and activities in EHS, productivity, and quality. Creates a positive, safety first culture within the assigned production operations.

Provides direction and supervision of production shift supervisors, process engineers and process specialists using principal based leadership strategies. Responsible for performance management of the production team.

Develops and coaches the production supervisors and process engineers. Drives problem solving through the production operations through operator involvement to determine best solutions for complex problems.

Supports Lean implementation and operational improvements within the assigned production operations. Implements and reinforces Lean Management Systems

Works in concert with other General Supervisors to subordinate resources to plant priorities and solve plant problems.

Position reports to the site Operations Manager

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution OR a high school diploma/GED or higher and a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience

Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with manufacturing production reporting systems

Experience leading and/or participating on Six Sigma projects or Lean Manufacturing activities

Diverse experience with manufacturing technology or operations

Strong communication skills and ability to interact on a broad basis (external/internal customers, employees and plant leadership)

Influence skills to support positive change acceptance within the work team

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt experience.
