General Manager – Continuous Improvement & Operations Effectiveness

Summary: Delta Air Lines has an immediate opening for a General Manager, Continuous Improvement and Operational Effectiveness. This role is responsible for developing and managing process improvement initiatives in support of Delta’s operations. This position will report to the Managing Director – Operational Analysis and Performance and will be based in Atlanta, GA.

Primary Functions:
Facilitate process improvement initiatives with key stakeholders to identify solutions to alleviate the constraint to improve the process and work with business unit to implement process change.

Support process improvement opportunities in each of the operating divisions.

Deliver Theory of Constraints training program.

Identify opportunities and execute projects to improve operations, customer service, employee satisfaction, and financial performance.

Exercise critical thinking and strong decision-making skills to achieve the annual Flight Plan goals.

Provide direct support in the planning and implementation of operational strategies.

Work collaboratively and cross divisionally to effectively drive improvement in overall analytical support

Leads a team of process improvement experts to deliver data-driven insights and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operations.

Creates a positive and motivating work environment. Leads through demonstration of Delta’s core values as outlined in Rules of the Road.

Practices safety conscious behaviors and ensure all policies and procedures support the safety of employees, customers and equipment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Engineering, Management, Business, Finance or related field required; Masters level degree a plus.

Expertise in Theory of Constraints, ability to understand a process constraint and provide solutions to relieve the constraint and improve the process flow.

Experience in Theory of Constraints implementation is required. Understanding of Six Sigma and lean methodologies and application

Must have strong business acumen, and excellent written, presentation and verbal skills.

Must be able to present complex material in a concise but comprehensive manner to decision makers.

Ability to influence without authority and work in a matrix environment is required.

Must be a strong team player, detail oriented, and perform well under pressure.

Must be able to develop team members.

Ability to effectively manage and deliver on many projects at once within strict deadlines is required.

Must have strong executive presence with the ability to lead, manage, and communicate to all levels within the organization.

Flexibility to travel is required.
