General Accountant

AdvanSix will be a fully-integrated nylon manufacturing leader serving customers globally with a range of resins, films, fertilizers and chemical intermediates found in everyday life. AdvanSix is looking for a General Accountant to join this to be publicly traded, stand-alone company. AdvanSix is being formed as a result of Honeywell’s recent announcement to spin off the Resins and Chemicals business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a General Accountant who will work within the AdvfanSix Corporate Finance group and will be located in Richmond, VA

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
General accounting procedures

Prepares journal entries and conducts general ledger operations

Support the monthly closing process

General accounting procedures

Completes the reconciling of monthly closings and maintains balance sheet accounts.

Monitors and resolves bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences.

Conducts account/bank reconciliations.

Assists with preparation and coordination of the audit process.

Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.

Assists with business process efficiencies.

Completes and/or assists with special projects.

Conducts ad hoc reporting as specified.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related degree and/or combination of directly related work experience commensurate to 1-3 years’ experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices/US GAAP.

Knowledge of finance principles.

Comprehensive technical accounting skills.

Proficiency in SAP software.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Planning and organizing skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.

Ability to take initiative on all accounting functions relevant to position.
