Full-Time Housekeeper in Lincoln Park

Family living in Lincoln Park of Chicago with two children is seeking an experienced, trained, organized and detail oriented full-time housekeeper who will efficiently clean a 6,000 square foot residence. The ability to work around the family’s schedule while at the same time cleaning and organizing in an efficient manner is important. Candidates must be comfortable working around children. Applicants need to be honest, trustworthy, understand the importance of maintaining discretion (confidentiality agreement is required), collaborative and experienced working with other domestic staff (full-time personal assistant and full-time nanny), adept at organizing and general cleaning, knowledgeable with cleaning various surfaces and artwork, skilled with laundry and proficient with ironing. Schedule is on Monday – Friday at 6:30am – 2:30pm or 7:00am – 3:00pm, guaranteed 40 hours per week. Candidates with many years of domestic housekeeper experience working in a 5,000+ square foot or larger home is required. Family will provide uniform for housekeeper. Start date is ASAP, but flexible for the right candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strong knowledge of proper care for various surfaces

• Cleaning and preparation of guest bedrooms

• Sweep, scrub, mop and polish floors

• Vacuum carpets, rugs and draperies

• Dust and polish furniture and fittings

• Knowledge of cleaning artwork

• Clean metal fixtures and fittings

• Empty and clean trash containers

• Dispose of trash in a sanitary manner

• Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs and showers

• Wipe down glass surfaces

• Wipe down refrigerators, wine fridge, mini fridges, etc.

• Dispose of expired food in refrigerator, freezer and pantry

• Assist with light meal preparation (e.g., chopping vegetables)

• Make up beds and change linens as required

• Tidy up rooms

• Organize closets

• Keep cleaning supply, household and food inventory

• Keep light bulb inventory

• Change light bulbs

• Sort, wash, load and unload laundry

• Iron and press clothing and linens

• Sort, fold and put away clean laundry

• Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition

• Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements

• Wash dishes and clean kitchen according to agreed hygiene standards

• Clean appliances

• Occasional errands for principal or personal assistant (e. g., dry cleaner, seamstress, florist, etc.)

• Declutter as directed by principal or personal assistant

• Clean entryway of home

• Clean garage

• Care for indoor/outdoor plants

• Polish silver

REQUIREMENTS:

• Seeking longevity (at least 2-5+ year commitment)

• Fluent in English, but English is not required as your first language

• Minimum two years domestic housekeeping experience

• Minimum of two references

• Eligible to work in the United States

• Driver’s license and clean driving record

• Willing to run extensive background checks

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Along with ability to write simple correspondence.

• Technology proficient (e. g., email and text messages for communication, search engines for choosing resources, etc.)

• Comfortable with dogs (family does not have dog now, but might get one in the future)

• Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend

• Professional with good attitude, hard working and pleasant to be around

• High energy level

COMPENSATION:

• $50-70K+ gross annual salary
