Fuel Finance Intern

Job Description

The Fuel Admin group is responsible for AAG’s Fuel Supply, Fuel Operations and related financial analyses. Fuel functions are very critical as it impacts airline operations. Interns are expected to complete various projects supporting Fuel Operations, Fuel Finance or Fuel Supply.

Potential projects include:

  • Establish monthly reporting and review of inventory gain/loss
  • Evaluate accuracy of fuel forecast and identify alternatives
  • Investigate additional opportunities for energy savings in de-regulated markets
  • Establish fuel consortium promissory notes/reserve deposits tracking process
  • Understand the supply logistics and document it with maps for different airports
  • Help develop min/max/target inventory policy in self-supply locations
  • Assimilate large amounts of data from consortium budget books to support analysis for various purposes including creating comparative analysis of other airline fuel expense and identifying opportunities to improve procurement methods

Job Qualifications

  • Work towards a degree in a quantitative or technical discipline (e.g. Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering and Operations Management)
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal direct supervision while leading projects as assigned by management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
  • Must be detail-oriented and have experience creating, maintaining and reviewing documents, reports, files and databases to ensure high level accuracy with minimal review requirements and that no important details were overlooked
    • Provide accurate, consistent numbers on all work products
    • Provide information in a useable format and on a timely basis to others who need to act on it
    • Maintain checklist, schedule, calendar, etc. to ensure that small details are not overlooked
    • Document important details in messages or communications so the details are not lost or forgotten
  • Significant and demonstrated analytical thinking ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively and professionally interact with employees at all levels within the organization as well as with external contacts
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift priorities as appropriate while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
