Front End Web Developer

Primary Purpose

• Produce the HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the customer facing interface of a smart grid application. The developer will work closely with system engineering staff to enable the client side web interface.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Implement a single-page web application using a JavaScript framework.
• Utilize asynchronous data driven design methodologies.
• Design several CSS templates to allow for displaying relevant data in an easy to read format.
• Create web-based mock-ups demonstrating user interaction with a Web App.
• Create documents detailing application design.
• Work with customers and consultants to ensure design goals are met.

Education

• Associates degree in Web development, App development or related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience Required

• 3+ years

Systems Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Experience with common interface standards / tools (JSON, SOAP, Thrift, GRPC, etc.)
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks (Ember.js, Angular.js, React, Backbone, etc.)
• Knowledge of client side web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)
• Familiarity with cybersecurity policies and secure application design principles
• General understanding of server side web development.
• Knowledge of the Linux Operating System
• Experience with document-oriented databases (MongoDB, CouchDB, etc.)
• Experience with data structure servers, key value stores. (Redis, Memcached, etc.)
• Experience with cloud deployment strategies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc.)
• JavaScript, CSS, HTML, development experience
• JavaScript web framework experience
• Event driven design methodologies experience
• Knowledge of the model-view-controller design pattern as it relates to front end web development
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Positive attitude
• Good listener and works well in team environments
• “Do whatever it takes” attitude
• Primary office in Madison, Wisconsin – candidate MUST BE local to the area.
