Front-End Software Engineer – JavaScript – Browser

New Relic

Front-End Software Engineer – JavaScript – Browser

Portland, OR

The New Relic Browser Team is looking for a UI developer who can help shape and build extraordinary user experiences for our customers. Working closely with the team, you will stretch and grow your skills as you quickly iterate and deliver value to our customers.

The Browser Team provides the industry leading solution for monitoring browser-based applications. We give our customers the means to identify issues in their web applications, drilling down from the UI, providing actionable information, and clearly reporting when things are going well.

What it’s like working on this team:
You’ll work with some of the smartest, nicest people you’ll ever meet.

You’ll engage in challenging problems as a member of a highly collaborative and supportive team that discovers and builds solutions together.

You’ll frequently find yourself pairing, mobbing, and reviewing PRs to ensure quality and increase team ownership of the code.

You’ll be part of a team that is responsible for the full stack, where each engineer contributes to more than one area—the JavaScript agent, the Java ingest pipeline data services, the backend layer written in Node, and the UI.

You’ll commit to a full-team effort to provide low-incident 24/7 services for our customers. To keep incidents low, we make a significant investment in early warning and self-healing systems.

You’ll ship incrementally and often, helping the team to maintain a constant flow of feedback on its work.

You’ll be part of a team that owns its process, and works continuously and collaboratively to improve it. How do you know if you’re right for this job?

You have at least one year of on-the the job experience writing JavaScript.

You are proficient in HTML and CSS.

You have knowledge of modern build tooling (e.g. webpack, browserify) and frameworks (e.g. React, Angular).

You are comfortable working closely with designers and product managers to plan and build features. We love UI engineers who have a strong sense of product, user experience, and design.

You are a strong communicator, expect the best of yourself and others, and would rather band together for a common cause than fly solo.

You flourish with incremental delivery and getting feedback quickly.

You understand the value that build and test automation brings to a development team’s efficiency and reliability and are excited about applying them to your projects.

You are excited to plan and lead medium to large features from mockups to production.

You enjoy mentoring others and feel passionate about improving software by constant iteration. A little about us:
