Front End Engineer

Amazon’s Global Browse team works within the Amazon Selection & Catalog Systems organization to present customer navigation options to millions of Amazon customers globally across billions of products. We are looking for experienced front-end engineers who want to work on cutting-edge web technologies to help us build the future of the product classification experience. Our tools enable business teams and library scientists (Taxonomists) to manipulate the world’s largest product concept graph to help customers find and buy items on Amazon. We are looking to refresh our approach toward tooling by introducing more analytics, machine learning, automation, and better process flow. Our new solutions will notify our Taxonomists when changes to language or products across the globe require us to change the graph and lead them through the suggested changes. These systems will make it easy to spot, recommend, and improve the graph in minutes. They will need a great User Experience to drive efficiency and great engineers to build that experience. You will help to design that experience in a pluggable and componentized fashion to enable extension by various teams.

As a Software Web Development Engineer in Browse Engineering, you will work with engineers, Taxonomists, and business teams to build elegant solutions to address the unique challenges related to global, online product discovery. Your team will develop global business process automation solutions leveraging great UX design, large scale back-end systems, analytics, and machine learning. You will build solutions that influence the technical strategy of the organization.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or 4+ additional years work experience)
• 3+ years relevant professional development experience
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithm design, and problem solving
• Skilled in developing rich applications with HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Proficiency in developing front-end software, with deep experience in one or more relevant front-end frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
• Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well in a team
• Experience building and operating online services and fault-tolerant distributed systems
• Deep familiarity with git and GitHub
• Experience working in an agile software development organization
• Proficiency building software on the AWS platform
