Front-End Engineer

The Amazon Checkout Platform team seeks a creative Front-End Engineer who treats software development as a craft, who cares deeply about our customers, and who takes great pride in both the technical and business contribution of their work. As a FE engineer, you will be part of a growing team building innovative, customer-facing software on top of a multi-tiered rendering platform, requiring a constant desire to raise the bar for today’s shopping experience. We enhance and simplify the Checkout experience using contextually relevant information (like location, delivery speed, and availability) and predictive data.
This role requires ownership, autonomy, and an ability to deliver results. You have a passion for building intuitive, efficient, and beautiful web interfaces. You will be leading front-end, web development throughout the planning, design and development lifecycle for many unique and innovative user experience projects.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a web developer or similar role.
• Proficiency using modern web development technologies and techniques, including JavaScript, AJAX, HTML5, CSS, Responsive Design, web services, etc.
• Experience developing AJAX interfaces with AJAX libraries and frameworks.
• Experience developing web-based user interfaces for mobile and desktop.
• Solid understanding of software development methodologies and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MVC design patterns and how they apply to Web Development.
• Experience in building fast, fluid, beautiful user experiences and driving growth in consumer websites.
• Passion for diving into data and discovering trends in user engagement.
• Experience with A/B Testing.
• Experience with modern development tool chains (ES6, SASS, Grunt/Gulp, RequireJS/Webpack)
• Bachelor’s degree in web development, software engineering, computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
