Our collaborative genealogy platform has allowed users to build the world’s largest family tree, with over 113 million people. We need energetic and talented people like you to help us grow and develop innovative new products in our unique working environment, located just blocks from the promenade in Burbank.

Geni is looking for a skilled and experienced front-end developer to join our team. Working in a fast-paced environment with world-class developers and cutting-edge technologies, you will apply exceptional talent to designing the next generation of our platform. The front-end developer will work closely with both our engineering and user experience teams to develop solutions for many of Geni.com’s key features. Projects may vary from wholly new interfaces for our core technologies to optimizing targeted interactions like SEO-driven signup flows. You will be responsible for implementing designs, programming interactive elements and developing new features while ensuring optimal user experience.

What you bring

• Expert knowledge of JavaScript, including jQuery and Backbone.js
• Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS, Sprockets, and Sass
• Broad understanding of web standards and various browsers’ differences and bugs
• Self-starter with a hacker mentality
• Knowledge of current trends and best practices in front-end development such as responsive design
• Experience with debugging tools like Chrome Developer Tools, Charles, and Web Inspector
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Excellent communication skills

What else

• Experience using Git for version control
• Contributions to open source projects
• Experience with Ruby and the Rails Framework
• Knowledge of underscore.js and functional programming
