Front End Developer Job

Responsible for developing innovative front-end code for BCBSMN web and mobile solutions and supporting enhancements of key legacy systems and platforms. The incumbent will be responsible for understanding and exceeding the web mobile development needs of the BCBSMN organization and its consumers. The Front-End Developer will accomplish this by understanding industry best practices and standards, informing important development decisions and creating best-in-class front-end platforms and technologies. The candidate should be experienced in using the latest techniques to build rich, interactive, modern web applications but rooted in development standards and best practices.

Accountabilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5 years total development experience to include: 2+ years of Adaptive or Responsive web front-end development using HTML 4/5 and CSS3 and 2+ years of Javascript, jQuery, AJAX and JSON experience.
• Experience with some web frontend frameworks such as React, Bootstrap, Angular, etc. and/or mobile frameworks such as React Native, Xamarin, Iconic, Phonegap etc.
• Experience with .Net back-end development practices and technologies.
• Proficient knowledge of Adobe CS5 (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver).
• Awareness and high-level knowledge of Android, iOS and Windows apps.
• Ability to embody BCBSMN values and represent as front-end dev expert, and collaborate across multiple stakeholders both business and technical.
• Demonstrated experience and passion for website and mobile applications.
• Understanding of usability, user experience and information architecture.
• Proven track record of successful website and mobile app launches.
• Experience in working with integrated marketing teams.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Ability to work in structured / unstructured work environments as needed.
• Ability to overcome development challenges and create effective solutions.
• Strong desire to learn a variety of technologies and processes.
• Experience developing and testing across multiple browsers, platforms, and devices, especially smartphones and tablets.
• Understanding and respect for handling sensitive user data in a safe, secure and legal fashion (i.e. PII, PCI, Hipaa etc. )

Preferred Requirements

• Familiarity with healthcare technology products, systems and tools.
• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices including automation & build tools, test driven development, Unit Testing around UI, continuous deployment etc. (as well as an understanding of the supporting tools).
• Experience working with a source versioning tool, such as Git.
• Recognized within front-end development industry as expert or thought leader.
• Able to integrate static HTML / CSS into CMS templates (Drupal, WordPress).
• Able to code emails that are optimized for most popular email clients.
• A strong interest in, and knowledge of, how healthcare organizations utilize web and mobile technologies to engage with their consumers.
