FREELANCE DESIGNER- WOMEN’S APPAREL

We are a fast growing women’s contemporary brand looking for a creative and extremely detailed oriented designer to assist with developing our upcomingSpring/Summer 18 collection. The Designer will help the team with tech packs,layouts, and overall growth and balance of the collection. This position has potential to lead to full time.

Main Responsibilities

• Work directly with design team and creative director on ensuring all styles get correctly passed to factory for development

• Create meticulous artwork embroidery/embellishment layouts for tech packs to be sent overseas

• Proactive in recommendations regarding color, silhouettes, trims, and embroidery that is relevant to the styles of the collection

• Develop forward-thinking ideas and move the collection forward with a high taste level,while keeping with the brand identity. Make suggestions that are consistent with market demands and company image

• Uphold tasks and projects in an organized and clear manner

• Work closely with Technical Designer to pass styles for initial tech pack to ensure proper garment construction and fit.

• Fix updates in styling, trim, or sketches to the tech pack/factory, ensuring updates are done in a timely manner.

• Maintain a deep sense and knowledge of colors, fabrics, materials, design, and visualization skills.

• Always on top of the latest trends in fashion, beauty, art, design, and culture in order to incorporate into the collection.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion/Apparel Design or equivalent degree

• 3-5 years experience in a fast paced contemporary fashion environment

• Must have experience designing for high end, luxury women’s apparel brands.

• Must have a portfolio demonstrating design experience.

• Highly proficient in hand sketching

• Ability to create meticulous artwork layouts using computer software and hand

• Must have strong computer skills, including Adobe (In Design, Illustrator and Photoshop) and Microsoft Office skills.

• In-depth knowledge of creating a line conceptually and visually balanced with silhouettes,fabrication, color ways, sewing techniques, and trim.

• Extremely detail oriented in developing design tech packs.

• Ability to work on a tight timeline and with efficiency.

• Ability to incorporate trends to be within brand identity.

• Highly motivated, passionate and ability to be an excellent team player.

• Strong written communication and team interactive skills.

• Must be flexible and creative problem solver.
