Freelance Art Director/Graphic Designer for Fashion Magazine

Internationally published fashion magazine BASIC Magazine (www.basic-magazine.com) is looking for a part-time/freelance Art Director/Graphic Designer, who is willing to contribute to the making of the BASIC fashion empire.

We are looking for the next Design Superstar – who can bring fresh, new and out of the box design concepts to the publication. We are looking for someone with diverse graphic design skills and mind-boggling imagination. You need to be a game changer, who is willing to be part of a new growing team that is already bending the norms of a progressive fashion magazine.

BASIC Requirements:

• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Programs; Light-Room, Photoshop and InDesign is a MUST
• InDESIGN fluency is a MUST (yes, we repeat that twice)
• Computer/Mac Savvy & fluent
• Experience with designing magazine layouts is a MUST (if you do not have at least 5-10 layouts samples, please skip to the next job post)
• Knowledge in typography, branding, barcodes and all that tech stuff
• Experience in prepping magazine for print is a huge fat plus
• Image editing skills & retouching, illustration skills would be great too
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (blah-blah)
• VERY Organized, Detail Oriented (don’t let us do your job for you)
• Must be resourceful and able to complete tasks with a sense of urgency
• Skills working with file sharing programs Dropbox, GoogleDocs, etc (surprise us)
• Strong interest in fashion, photography, creative direction, brand development
• Love for COLOR, composition, precision
• Good vibes only (unless you so talented, we can put up with your gloomy personality)

BASIC Responsibilities:

• Creatively Design 160-page art-book (based on provided templates)
• Communicate with both Writing editorial team & junior graphic design team
• Prepare magazine for print
• Help with designing additional materials, e.g. event invites, social media campaigns, banners, magazine promo & marketing materials, ad layouts for our clients
• Liaise with printers, distribution partners, outside vendors
• Be awesome. At every single page.

* The roles can be home-based, with agreed in advance office team meetings in Beverly Hills
