As a WG-2 Food Service Worker, you will perform specific duties. WG-2 Food Service Worker carries out assignments both withand without direct supervision. The primary purpose of this work is to support meal service in the Food Service department, pass trays and nourishments to Veteran patients, utilize the dish machine to wash and sanitize plates and dishes, and to assist with maintaining sanitation standards throughout the kitchen.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Working on the tray-line during meal service to assist with the preparation of meal trays, which may include placingitems on trays such as silverware, domes, and beverages.

Pass trays and nourishments to Veteran patients, following patient safety standards, and using excellent customer service skills to assist patients with meal service.

Pick-up soiled trays and dirty dishes return them to the kitchen, wash, and sanitize them using dish machine equipment.

Scrub, wash, and sanitize pots and pans.

Use floor scrubber and other cleaning equipment.

Maintain a safe sanitary kitchen following established guidelines, cleaning schedules for food safety, personal hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety.

Contribute to a Veteran-Centered culture by preparing quality food items.

Your background must demonstrate experience your ability to read and interpret instructions and perform simple calculations used in food preparation. Experience in the food service industry, including experience with operating/cleaning kitchen equipment or facilities, knowledge of proper food handling and food sanitation procedures, customer service training.

EXPERIENCE : A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the questions. PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS : As a Food Service Worker your work requires manual dexterity, and is subject to continuous standing, walking, frequent stopping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. You must be able to life and move items weighing up to 45 pounds, and occasionally over 45 pounds. May perform heavy work such as, scouring large cooking utensils, and pushing heavy carts/trucks in unloading, storing and delivering food/supplies. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning products. Heavy Lifting (45 lbs and over); Heavy Carrying (45 lbs and over); Straight Pulling (up to 1 hour); Pushing (1 – 2 hours); Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking (up to 3 hours); Standing (up to 3 hours); Repeated bending (up to 1 hour); Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision correctable at 13″ to 16″; Hearing (aid permitted)
