Fixed Income Quantitative Analyst

What is the opportunity?

As a Fixed Income Quantitative Analyst, you will develop, enhance and maintain mathematical models, portfolio management systems and databases used by the GAM US Fixed Income team. The Analyst will be responsible to drive change and leverage existing and potential systems and models to optimize investment processes and decisions. The Fixed Income Quantitative Analyst will also partner with and leverage both locally and globally based Risk, Technology, Data and Investment Teams.

What will you do?

Execute on Fixed Income-related research and analysis projects, both independently and collaboratively by building and enhancing systems, models and databases used by the Fixed Income team. Potential topics include: research, trading, analytics, and model portfolios.

Contribute to analytics infrastructure.

Propose technological solutions based on understanding of existing infrastructure and external tools or practices.

Become knowledgeable of existing data infrastructure and build, or direct building of additional needs.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

Bachelor degree required in a quantitative discipline (Financial Engineering, Operations Research, Math, Computer Science, Statistics, etc).

Programming experience in VBA, R, MATLAB, SQL or similar languages and someone who is quantitatively savvy with strong analytical/problem solving skills.

Communication ability – the ability to communicate complicated, nuanced material in a clear and concise fashion and someone who is creative and generates fresh project ideas.

Technical Skills – Experience building applications in MatLab, R, or another high-level language used in statistical computing. Advanced Excel skills required.

Attention to detail – takes ownership of projects, strong focus on quality, correctness, and intuitiveness of output.

Understanding of development lifecycle and change management processes and someone who is motivated, hard-working and a self-starter.

Nice-to-have

Fixed Income experience/knowledge with experience experience or knowledge of technology documentation protocols.

Experience with programming & scripting languages (e.g. C/C++, Perl).

FactSet, Bloomberg and Charles River experience.

Understanding of basic statistics and econometrics; financial statement analysis knowledge and some experience in quantitative research.

CFA or interest in obtaining.
